Why Recycling?

Waste Recycling Infogrhapic
The United States as a whole is in need of an upgrade to their recycling models, and in that same sense, so do many universities and companies. Waste management has been a problem for hundreds of years. We have lived and learned from the mistakes of terrible waste management, E. Coli for example. So why haven't we implemented a better way to adjust our recycling?

Drew University's Waste Management Plan primarily focuses on hazardous, universal, and medical waste, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. As a Large Quantity Generator, the university prioritizes identification, storage, disposal, and minimization of hazardous waste, conducting weekly inspections and annual personnel training. While the plan integrates some recycling efforts, mainly for universal waste and used oil, its emphasis is largely on hazardous waste disposal rather than standard, student-relevant recycling. Given our project's focus on recycling awareness, the lack of detailed protocol on broader recycling initiatives is disappointing.
