Welcome to our page!
The Environmental Justice team is working hard to spread awareness surrounding proper waste disposal at Drew to prevent further harm to the environment and uphold environmental justice.
What is Environmental Justice?
Environmental justice is the principle that all people, regardless of differences, deserve fair protection from environmental hazards and equal access to the decision making process that affects the environment.
Our research was based on archival work surrounding student life here at Drew, showing that there used to be a larger community that focused on recycling. Because Drew’s waste disposal plan has not been revised since 2011 and a part of our research shows that historically Drew students are not educated fully on the waste disposal process, we are proposing a solution to these problems
We are a team of 6 freshman, graduating in 2028, who are currently taking the CE 260 course!
Our members, majors and minors, interests, why EV justice
Alyssa Brijpaul:
Public Health major with a photography minor. I am interested in photography, writing, and cooking. I chose Environmental Justice because I feel like not many people have awareness about what is going on in the world and even in our community.
Allison Cannon:
Psychology major with a Spanish and Law, Justice, and Society minor. Social justice is a big part of my life! I have always cared for others and the world we live on, so participating in an environmental justice project was a no brainer!
JP Emmert:
Environmental Science major with an undecided minor. I chose Environmental Justice because I grew up caring about our planet, and wanting to make things better for everyone, and I want to fix how our problems disproportionately affect some.
Lillian Hedrick:
Anthony Ruggiero:
Rachel Parker:
Environmental Science and Economics double major with a minor in Environmental Justice.
