Economic disparities on college campuses affect student access to food, textbooks, and professional clothing, negatively impacting their ability to excel academically. By highlighting impactful programs and initiatives throughout Drew’s history, we aim to ensure students facing financial challenges are aware of and can easily access available resources.
For our research, we focused on the impact of the 2008 recession to understand how it affected economic disparity at Drew and other universities. By analyzing the impact of the recession and past initiatives that supported students facing economic disparity, we can develop an informed approach to addressing economic disparities impacting Drew students today.
Our goal is to inform students and faculty of resources on campus by creating a centralized hub within the Drew Good Bulletin, which is available on the University website. This will make resources more accessible for the Drew community to access and utilize.
We collaborated with the Center for Civic Engagement to create a Drew Good Bulletin (DGB) Page to include on Drew University's Website. Providing students with this centralized platform makes resource information more easily accessible. The DGB will list resources, what they offer, and how to utilize them. Our desired impact is to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of students experiencing economic disparity and hardship.
