Timeline

1831: Fante Bible Band organized.

1835: Missionary Society of the Wesleyan Methodist Church founds mission in Ghana.

1838: Thomas Birch Freeman opens the first church in Ghana. 

1910: Methodist evangelization of Northern Ghana began.

1942: The church and the Presbyterian and Evangelical Presbyterian churches of Ghana co-founded the Trinity Theological Seminary.

1961: The Methodist Church in Ghana gains autonomy from British Methodists. 

1999-2000: At the Methodist Conference held at Koforidua, articles of Episcopacy were signed and a Proclamation Service for the Episcopacy was held at the Wesley Methodist Chapel in Accra.
