Timeline

1885: William Taylor sends missionaries to Angola under the Methodist Episcopal Church.

1896: The Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church begins sending missionaries to Angola. 

1897: Joseph Hartzell includes Angola in the Congo Mission. 

1902: Angola designated as the West Central Africa Mission Conference. 

1920: Angola designated as the Angola Mission Conference. 

c. 1940: Angola designated as the Angola Provisional Conference. 

1968: Angola included in the Africa Central Conference of The Untied Methodist Church.

1988: Second bishop and episcopal area authorized in Angola due to effects of civil war.
