Consumer Product Information Database - CPID (retired: Household products database)
CPID contains health effects information for products used in the home and in some commercial/institutional settings that contain chemicals. This site replaces the discontinued Household Products Database.

Accessing HSDB Content from PubChem
HSDB content has migrated to PubChem. This document provides step-by-step instructions to effectively search for information about toxicity.

After locating ingredient, one may filter the information provided by source, using the tool at end of "Contents" menu.
EWG Skin Deep (tm) database
A product of the sometimes controversial Environmental Working Group, Skin Deep was designed to create online safety profiles for cosmetics and personal care products. May provide diagrams, functions, and links to products containing the chemical as well as citations for safety data. NOTE: You'll need to wade through lots of pop ups.

MSDS: Materials Safety Data Sheets

Searching your chemical name in quotes (or CAS Number) and MSDS in Google will often result with these required sheets (offered by chemical suppliers) that summarize human health issue and handling of a particular chemical.
