Activate Your Pass

What is an academic pass?

  • Access to the NYT digital edition via website or mobile app
  • Available to all Drew students, faculty and staff on nytimes.com
  • Available on and off campus with your Drew email

How do you register?

  • Go to accessnyt.com
  • In the "Find School " box, enter Drew University 
  • Click on :Create account
  • Complete registration using your drew.edu email address
  • Create a password
  • IMPORTANT STEP!!  Check your email for an activation link from the NY Times, and click on it to activate your pass
  • Navigate to nytimes.com

How long does the pass last? 

  • For students, the pass is good for all 4 years, provided you entered your graduation year. 
  • For faculty. the pass is good for 4 years. YOU MUST RENEW THE PASS AFTER 4 YEARS! 
  • To renew:  
    • Go back to accessnyt.com and select "log in here" 
    • If the  "Find School " box appears,  enter Drew University 
    • If you need to reset the password, go to NYTimes.com/forgot 
    • Login with the same username and password that you registered with
    • IMPORTANT STEP!!  Check your email for an activation link from the NY Times, and click on it to activate your pass.

New York Times Digital Edition

Drew University Faculty, students and staff have free access to the NY Times.com online edition courtesy of the Library. 

Go to nytimes.com.  Login with your drew email and the password you created (see the box on the left). Once logged in,  you can stay logged every time you access the site. 

This is what is included with your subscription: 

·       Unlimited access on NYTimes.com (There is no daily limit to the number of articles you can download)

·       Archives (dating back to 1851)  timesmachine.nytimes.com/browser (5 PDF article downloads from Times Machine per user per day) 

·       Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality - found in the App; NYT stories told through enhanced technology

·       Daily 360 content - two dimensional, 360° views (with mobile device or using a mouse)

·       Podcasts (including The "Daily" podcast)

·       All multimedia, including videophotographyVR features, and new multimedia to come.

·       Newsletters (there are a variety of topics that you may subscribe to)

·        Spanish and Mandarin Chinese versions of NYTimes.com.

The New York Times has apps for all all devices and platforms.

Download apps at the New York Times Mobile apps site. After installing the app, log in with your Drew email and the password you used when you first activated your NYT account.
