SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology

Finding the Original Research

For a portion of your assignment, you need to find the original research discussed within the "In Brief" section of an issue of Contexts. Although "In Brief" does not provide a complete citation to the research described, you are given clues in the text. Generally, you should be able to identify:

  • The researchers
  • The journal in which the research has been published

Once you have your clues, now you may find the original research by going to ScholarSearch and entering the information in the search boxes. The clues used in this example are the author(s) and journal title:

Once you have located the original research article, get the full text through the links provided or request it through InterLibrary loan (ILL).  It may take a few days to receive the article through ILL, so please don't wait until the last minute to do this assignment!
