About the University Writing Center (UWC)

The University Writing Center (UWC) is CRLA-certified under the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) and offers one-on-one and group tutoring as well as free writing and grammar workshops throughout the semester. Read more about the Tutoring Services offered by the CAE here.

The mission of the University Writing Center (UWC) is to support students taking undergraduate and graduate-level courses. We help students at all stages of the writing process, whether it is brainstorming a topic, structuring an essay, or editing and revising. 

Writing Center specialists go through rigorous and continuous training throughout the semester as well as routine evaluation.  If you’re interested in becoming a Writing Specialist, read our guidelines here.

The CWE is located in the Vivian A. Bull Academic Commons on the first floor of the University Library (Room 124).
